DC53 (Cr8W2vSi) material is used to manufacture shearing machine blades. When quenched at 1040°C and tempered at 520–530°C, it can still guarantee a hardness of HRC 62–63, successfully overcoming the defects of Cr12MoV such as insufficient hardness and poor toughness after high-temperature tempering.

It features excellent machinability and grindability, with no risk of cracking during wire electrical discharge machining (EDM). After tempering, retained austenite is almost completely transformed, making cryogenic treatment largely unnecessary. When tempered at a low temperature of 200°C, carbides are distributed uniformly with no massive carbides present in the microstructure, resulting in superior toughness!
